Chef: David Kinch

David Kinch is a highly distinguished American Chef who has worked to bring himself to the forefront of contemporary cuisine in California. Kinch is the winner of three Michelin Stars, the James Beard Award winner for Best Chef in America, Pacific Region, and Four Stars from the San Francisco Chronicle. Even with all these distinct awards, Kinch says that the reason he does the work he does is that he truly enjoys it and loves when people leave his restaurant having had an enjoyable experience. Kinch pulls influences from French and Japanese cuisine, having worked in both areas during his tenured career.

Located in Los Gatos, Manresa specializes in California Cuisine which focuses on foods that are driven by local and sustainable ingredients. Advertised as a farm to table restaurant, Manresa takes full advantage of its proximity to local farms and uses it to create a menu that showcases the highest quality ingredients of the season, such as Monterey Bay Abalone. The Vegetable Garden Signature Salad features Iced Fanny Bay Oysters, and Squid & Strawberries. Manresa offers one Nine Course Tasting Menu that changes not only with the season but based upon the day. This allows the Chefs to create the most unique and delicious dishes each night using the ingredients sourced from local farms. Because the menu changes with the day, no two evenings at Manresa are necessarily alike. The Chef’s at Manresa prefer that the dishes for the evening be a surprise as guests arrive, and traditionally provide guests with the menu at the end of their dining experience as a souvenir. Guests can also elect to purchase an additional beverage pairing or choose from Manresa’s extensive wine and signature cocktails list including unique options such as The Black Sesame which contains activated charcoal, and ginger-infused vodka.
