Born in Germany, Chef Thomas Henkelmann began his culinary career as a young child helping in his parent’s German family restaurant. Henkelmann made himself a promise early on in his youth, to become the best French Chef that he could be. To achieve this goal, Henkelmann studied under some of the finest French chefs in France before coming to the United States and eventually opening his own restaurant. Having been classically trained in French cuisine, Henkelmann strives to create memorable, classic dishes based on all his years of travel and classical training. Chef Thomas Henkelmann is one of the few Chefs to achieve the coveted title of, Grand Chef Relais & Chateaux.

In 1997, Chef Thomas Henkelmann and his wife, Theresa founded the Homestead Inn – Thomas Henkelmann in Greenwich, CT. Located in a 19th Century Victorian Manor on three acres of land, The Homestead Inn – Thomas Henkelmann is a perfect combination of 18th century architecture and modern design, with an “old-world” feel in the restaurant, complete with plates designed with farm animals and fruits/vegetables. The inn affords Henkelmann the opportunity to create his signature French dishes that he is so renowned for. Featuring a seasonally changing menu, dinner guests can expect to currently enjoy Organic Tomato Soup with Semolina Dumplings, Perigold Black Truffles with Maine Lobster Bisque, Cannelloni of Maryland Crabmeat with Bok Choy, and Trio of Hudson Valley Foie Gras. All dishes are created with Henkelmann’s mindset that minimal ingredients when done well, create maximum impact.
